My Top 10(ish) Photos of 2016

I have a slight obsession with top 10 lists. Obviously in seeking out my favorite photos I would choose pictures of my family every time. What can I say? They're my favorite people. For your sake, however,  I'll try to to stick to pictures I've taken professionally. I'm not saying pictures of my peeps won't slip in there, as is the case with Exhibit A and B.

Unlike traditional top ten lists, I'm giving these 10ish photos to you in no particular order. That would in fact be impossible. Except for the last one--it really is the very best.

Disclaimer: I loved each and every one of my sessions. It was so hard to choose! My entire blog contains my favorite images from each session. I've posted links to the full session if you want to see the rest.
"The Polyjuice Potion"

 "Harry Potter Baby"
My 7-year-old daughter is in the trenches of the Harry Potter series and loves it. When her birthday came around in July she wanted an HP party and we had a blast planning it. We set up a photo booth that turned out to be a huge hit and produced some great images.

 "Big, Blue Eyes"
This little stud is adorable. I was also really happy with the wide open aperture effect I got out of my camera--something I love. To see the rest of this session, click The Raschke Family

 "Hazy View"
I had the privilege of photographing my grandparents' farm this summer. There were fires raging on Antelope Island, just a few miles away from where I was shooting. It created a deeply nostalgic orange glow to everything I captured. To see the rest of this session, click The Manning Farm
 "Future of Light"
While I've been a photographer for many years, I only recently began taking on weddings. This awesome couple was kind enough (and brave enough) to let me take their pictures with minimal wedding experience. This photo with the light and Temple serving as a backdrop became one of my favorites. To see more from this session, click Wood Wedding
 "Wondering Eyes"
This sweet baby was the calmest and easiest subject I've ever worked with. He slept the entire shoot, until the very end when he opened his eyes and gave his momma (and my camera) and perfect little smile. To see more of this beautiful baby, click Baby Dax
"Father and Son"
This embrace melted me. I love this photograph. Click Beautiful Family to see more.
"Sarah"
This lady is terrific. I asked her to let me take her picture in front of the old Wellsville School before it was vacated forever. She spent a lot of time there and impacted the lives of many of the students and staff. When I posted this picture on Facebook, it was viewed by over 3,000 people. I was overwhelmed by the response of love for this amazing woman!
 "A Boy and His Dog"
This one gets me because of the subject matter and the light coming through the trees. Click Ferguson Family and Pets for more.
 "Surrounded by Love"
This one gets me because I know this little one's mom. She is amazing! Her love for her family is an inspiration to me and I want to be just like her! From a photography standpoint I was very happy with the framing. Tibbitts Family

 "Love in Loss"
This was my most spiritual and exhausting session. Watching this beautiful family say goodbye to their sweet baby was a beautiful and sad experience. This photo of a husband comforting his wife means so much to me. To see the rest of this session, click Baby Hope
"Golden Longhorn"
I have learned that people don't care as much about pictures that don't have people in them. They think "Oh, that's cool" and move on. I take a lot of scenery, animal, and antique pictures that I don't share because people just don't care as much. This one is one of my favorites that I keep coming back to. J and I were driving home from Idaho where I was doing another fabulous extended family session. I haven't been to Idaho very much but I'm fascinated by how different it is from Utah. When I saw these longhorns grazing, I made J pull over so I could capture them. I had to trudge through what I was sure was rattlesnake-infested grassland to get there but this shot was worth it. Idaho Scenes
"The Cowboy and His Hat"
I can hands down say this is my favorite shot of the year. This man is my grandpa (well, my husband's, but I claim him too.) He is a real life, genuine cowboy, and the truly one of the greatest men I know. He was kind enough to allow me to take some pictures of him with his horses. I will forever treasure the hour he put up with me following him around. Click Grandpa Littleford to see more.

Thank you everyone for your support this year!
